Welcome home. This is The Butler Brief for Thursday, September twenty-fourth. Put the phone down, keep moving, and let’s get you caught up.
First, the weather. Butler County starts the day cloudy and around sixty-three degrees. The National Weather Service forecast calls for a high near seventy-four, with very little chance of rain. Tonight will be mostly clear, with patchy fog possible and a low near forty-eight. Friday turns sunny after any morning fog, with a high near seventy-two.
On the roads, Springfield Road in Reily Township remains closed to through traffic for culvert repairs between a point seven miles north of Main Street and five hundred feet south of Indian Creek Road. The county tentatively expects it to reopen Friday. On Kyles Station Road just east of Interstate seventy-five, portable traffic signals are maintaining traffic during turn-lane work. Expect delays and allow extra time.
For your Thursday plans, Fairfield’s community tree planting runs from four to six at Marsh Park, six-four-four-zero River Road. Meet in the parking lot. In Hamilton, the Butler County Farmers and Artisan Market is open from five to eight at the Butler County Courthouse, one-oh-one High Street.
Heading into Cincinnati? The Great Gatsby begins at seven-thirty tonight at the Aronoff Center. Tickets are listed from forty-eight dollars and twenty-five cents, subject to availability.
And finally, who’s playing today? The Cincinnati Reds visit the Atlanta Braves at Truist Park. First pitch is seven-fifteen Eastern.

Now: Hamilton airport reported cloudy and 63°F at 1:15 PM ET on September 23.
Tonight: A 30% shower or thunderstorm chance before 8 PM, then cloudy. Low near 58°F.
Wednesday: This afternoon: a 40% shower or thunderstorm chance after 2 p.m., with a high near 67°F.
Outlook: Thursday turns partly sunny near 73°F. Friday and Saturday are sunny near 72–73°F; Sunday is mostly sunny near 73°F.
The NWS query returned no active Butler County alert at the afternoon verification time. Check the current NWS alerts before making weather-sensitive plans.
West Chester Road is scheduled to close to through traffic between Barret Road and Selkirk Drive from 9 PM Wednesday until 4 AM Thursday for Duke Energy transmission-pole work. The posted detour uses Revere Run, Wintergreen, Hollywood, Forestview and Barret roads; a second night may be needed.
Springfield Road in Reily Township remains closed for culvert repairs about 0.7 mile north of Main Street and 500 feet south of Indian Creek Road. Reopening is tentatively Friday, September 25; the posted detour uses Weaver and Peoria Reily roads.
Turn-lane work just east of I-75 continues for the Stonybrook development. Traffic is maintained with portable signals; delays are possible during the estimated 28-day project.
Use OHGO for current incidents and delays on I-75, I-275, I-71, I-74, US-27 and SR-4.
The commission meets Wednesday, September 23 at 6 PM at the Fairfield Municipal Building. The meeting is listed on the official city calendar; this edition does not infer an agenda topic.
Liberty Township does not provide curbside leaf collection; use the township’s seasonal guidance to plan yard cleanup.
A roughly 600-acre annexation request linked to the proposed Amazon site was withdrawn, according to WVXU’s September 15 report.
WVXU reports council could vote September 24 on a 12-month data-center moratorium. The proposal concerns the former Ivorydale soap site; the moratorium has not been approved.
