THE BUTLER BRIEF

Thursday, October 22, 2026 · Evening Edition · Verified 3:13 PM ET

Weather

Good afternoon, Butler County. This is your Evening Brief for Thursday, October 22, 2026. The National Weather Service forecast for the West Chester Township area calls for sunshine this afternoon and a high near 69 degrees. Tonight will be clear, with a low around 42 and light northeast winds. Friday looks sunny again, with a high near 69. No active alerts were returned for Butler County when checked for this edition.

Halloween on the Green

Tonight in Fairfield, Halloween on the Green runs from 6 to 8 p.m. at Village Green Park. Fairfield Parks and Recreation says the event is free and organized for children age ten and younger. Local businesses and organizations will have decorated booths with treats, and families are invited to wear costumes. Check the city's event page for any last-minute changes before heading out.

Township hearing

Also tonight, Fairfield Township's Zoning Appeals Board holds a public hearing at 7 p.m. at the Township Administration Building, 6032 Morris Road. The request concerns a variance for expansion of the Butler County Engineer's Office campus at 1955 Fairgrove Avenue. The hearing location is Morris Road, not the campus address.

On stage

In Cincinnati, BOOP! The Musical has a 7:30 performance tonight at the Aronoff Center's Procter and Gamble Hall. The organizer recommends it for ages eight and up and lists a running time of about two and a half hours, including intermission. Tickets are required; check the official box office for current availability and prices.

Roads

For travel planning, the Butler County Engineer's published schedule places Yankee Road just north of Hornet Drive under a through-traffic closure beginning October 19 for Monroe High School driveway improvements. The announced detour uses Todhunter Road, Salzman Road and State Route 63, with school driveway access from the south. Reopening is expected November 20, weather permitting. This is the engineer's project notice, not a live traffic report.

Coverage note

This edition covers freshly checked weather and alerts, three official listings for tonight, and the county engineer's road notice. Sports results, other event changes, live traffic incidents, gasoline prices and markets were not independently reverified for this recording.
